Internet Advancement Reporting
Process ranks and awards for Packs, Troops, Teams, Crews, Ships, and Posts
Units can now submit advancement for unit youth members online. Use Internet Advancement for the following:
o Add ranks, merit badges, and awards and get the piece of mind that this service will provide for long term back up for your unit's advancements records.
o Update information on existing advancements (excepting the Eagle Scout rank).
o Print out Advancement Reports for your Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters and Unit Committees periodic reviews.
o Print out Advancement Reports for specific pre-Board of Reviews.
To use Internet Advancement
1. Select a unit volunteer to be your unit's Advancement Processor. This person must have Internet connectivity and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
2. Obtain a unit's Internet Advancement Reporting 'ID code' from your District Executive.
3. Gather information for advancement, including merit badge applications and advancement records with dates.
4. Click Internet Advancement and follow the instructions in Internet Advancement website to process advancements and print an advancement report.
5. Have the appropriate people sign the printed unit advancement report and submit it to the council. Save a copy for your files.
Units should submit monthly before the end of each month, or more often if needed. In December, submit a report before the end of the month to update your unit and subsequently the Council's Advancement statistics.
Training
Your unit's Advancement Processor may view PowerPoint Presentation (772 KB, includes PowerPoint Viewer) for an introduction and training necessary to use the Internet Advancement application. The National Council, Boy Scouts of America produced this MS PowerPoint Presentation to assist people with training on how to use the Internet Advancement website.
An Instructor's Guide is also available. Please use this outline when training units in your District on how to use the site.
If you have any problems with the Internet Advancement tool, contact your District Training Chair and arrange for additional training at the next District Roundtable.
